Training during CMA Course

    Important Instructions for students:
  1. A student should contact their respective Regional Council or Chapter for the time Schedule of the training (except Practical training).
  2. A student is required to complete the prescribed training before filling the Examination form for both the groups or remaining group of Inter/Final.
  3. A student eligible for exemption of training in Inter/Final course has to apply online only.
  4. Foreign students should write to /contact to the Directorate of Studies at


Students pursuing the CMA course of the Institute, shall have to undergo prescribed trainings, unless otherwise eligible to claim exemption (if applicable) from undergoing such training(s).

A student appearing for both groups or for remaining group of Inter/Final Examination has to undergo all the trainings (except practical training in final) at Regional Council/Chapter/ Recognized Oral Coaching Centre/CMA Support Centre duly recognized by the Institute.

Student should have completed the required trainings before filling up the Examination application form.


I. Computer Training- 100 Hours

The objective of the Computer Training at Intermediate Course is to develop the skill of operation of some essential application software commonly used in Management Accounting fields.

Exemption from Computer Training
Following may be exempted from Computer Training:
  1. A student having passed Bachelor of Engineering, Pursuing Engineering Course (having completed 2nd year/Semester IV /equivalent) or Post Graduation in Computer Science or Computer Application, MBA (Systems) or PGDCA, MCA from Indian Institute of Management or a recognized University or an Institute recognized by All India Council for Technical Education or Department of Information Technology [formerly Department of Electronics (DOE)], Government of India, ‘A’ level Certificate Course of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (formerly DOEACC).
  2. CAT qualified from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
  3. Members of CIMA/ACCA.
  4. Reciprocal exemption is offered for Students/Members of Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and Students/Members of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) ,who are registered with either ICSI prior to 8th September, 2014, subject to production of evidence of completion of Computer Training in the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Procedure for claiming exemption from undergoing Computer Training:
  1. Eligible candidate may apply online for exemption (at least 60 days prior to the start of the Examination) through online student facility under value added services.
  2. If the applicant is found eligible to be exempted from undergoing Computer Training, an exemption letter will be issued and subsequently appropriate amount would be refunded to the applicant.

II. Communication and Soft Skills Training (CSS)- 3 Days

The Scheme for 3-days Training Programme for Communication and Soft Skills are as under:

Days Training (Topics to be covered shall be made known by the respective Chapter/Regional Council)
Day 1 Oral Communication.
Day 2 Written Communication and Goal Setting.
Day 3 Time Management; Getting ready for Examination; Group discussion, Presentation and other Soft Skills.

Exemption from Communication and Soft Skills Training

Students having requisite qualification and experience may claim exemption from undergoing this Communication & Soft Skills Training, which are as under:
  1. Holding Masters’ Degree (other than in performing art) or Engineering or Passed Finalists from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India/Institute of Chartered Accountants of India/Actuaries/Registered Valuers ; and
  2. Having a work experience of not less than 3 (three) years in any Government or Public or Private Sectors or Universities or Colleges or Academic Institutions (recognized by AICTE/UGC).
Procedure of claiming exemption from Communication and Soft Skills Training:

Eligible candidates may apply for exemption in CSS training online, through online student facility under value added services.


Compulsory Industry Oriented Training Programme (IOTP) – 7 Days

This will cover training on compliance requirements and their preparation under various statutes and shall be imparted as under:

Treasury Management Statutory Compliance Group Presentation

Practical Training
Applicability Students registered in Intermediate course on or after 1.1.2008
Duration of Training Period 15 months Practical Training
[for every student having registered for the intermediate course on or after 11th February, 2020]
Last date for online submission of Six months Practical Training documents For December Term-before 30th November
For June Term- before 31st May
Student undergo Practical Training Immediately after registration into Intermediate course or before appearing in the final examination
